We received this as a gift for my son who is 3. We put it together in less than 15 minutes - the instructions were clear, the parts well labeled and nicely made. The uprights and the base posts are filled with sand for stability, the tubing made from what seems to be standard plumbing pipe.
The football / soccerball is very light and clearly for young kids. The shin pads seem to be for kids in the 5 or above age range, and at this stage I would think they are more likely to be using a heavier ball than that supplied with the set.
I believe the goal would stand up OK to a "proper" size 3 ball if the base was staked into the ground, or the posts were cemented together with standard plumbing adhesive instead of leaving them pushed together.
All in all a good kit.

Nice for practcing if left put together. A REAL pain-in-the-XX to take apart, box, then put back up frequently!
