Editorial Reviews:
Product Description The FALCON-II hydration backpack is the dramatically improved second generation of our military assault daypack that has been upgraded with the amenities of daily use in mind while not compromising the integrity of rugged battlefield construction. It has all of the best features of a smallmedium hunting pack or day pack, plenty of room for an overnighter, and is rock solid throughout.

Maxpedition Falcon II Backpack July 26, 2008 W. Gobel (Charleston, SC USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
After receiving my khaki Falcon II backpack, I closely inspected the bag for any defects. I already own a khaki Maxpedition Fatboy and I noted immediately that the two bags do not match in color, with the Falcon II appearing to have more greenishly tinted straps and reinforcing; I would have liked the two to match in the khaki color. No other defects were noted and the construction is very high quality .. double stitched and taped seams and the sturdiest zippers in the industry. The zippers need a few dozen cycles to loosen up and run freely. This bag likes to flatten inside itself naturally with the smaller pockets pancaking into the middle compartment and then the middle pancaking into the rear compartment accordion-style; seems designed that way and I like that. Lotta loose strap ends when folded accordion-style; that becomes less of an issue once the bag is loaded and expanded. The bottom of the bag is armored with a black, abrasion-resistant, textured rubber layer and includes two adjustable utility straps underneath for slinging a jacket or sleeping bag. Great place for rain gear. The hydration compartment's interior wall in the back has a tapered belly sewn into it to accommodate a full water bladder without bulging through the exterior wall into the wearer's back; this belly intrudes into the rear compartment a little and it's very nicely done. The narrowness of the bag allows it to neatly tuck into the small of the back and stay centered. You can add accessories to the sides without looking like a hang glider. The central compression strap tends to get in the way; it can be quickly removed and stored inside the bag, which I recommend for most loads. A central top loop with a snap acts to gather the four zipper pulls for the rear and middle compartments together and keep them from working their way open; adds a little security from thieves in a crowd, too. Even the top handle is robust and well folded and stitched. All in all, a most well designed bag .. just a little inconsistent in the color department.
