Excellent, inexpensive product. March 15, 2010 Po (New York, NY) It came with the only tool I needed to assemble it and took me about 25 min to put it together (I'm a slow screwer).
I am 150lbs so I'm no where near the max but it holds my weight very well. I do not fear that it will fall and I don't feel it shift when I'm doing my sets. Like other reviewers said, you have to lift it up before you can remove it from the doorway.
Definitely measure your doorway before you buy it. I had to put it in different doorway than I had planned because it wasn't long enough, but that was my own fault. They sell an longer bar for an extra $10 but it wasn't worth it to me.
Again, I can't stress enough how happy I am with this product.
MEASURE DOORS BEFORE BUYING! March 15, 2010 Sarah W (Milwaukee, WI) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
And DO NOT BUY if your door frame is thicker than 6" (read: in older homes). Our home dates from the 1890s and we didn't think about measuring before picking this up. Unfortunately, our door frames are about 8" thick, so it does not fit! Looks to be nice quality, but waste of money. Really bummed. :(
key to upper body strength and tone March 11, 2010 Jacob Wise (shawnee, KS) ive used this for about 4 and a half months. at that time i could do 13 pullups on it. and now i can do betwwe 21 and 23, heres how. do 3 sets with it, with 100% effort every set. i used the parallel grip for the first 2 sets, and on the last set i gripped it with my palms facing forward. im 150lbs and it works fine for me and ive had heavier friends who use it and in my opinion the weight limit mostly depends on the door frame.
Great piece of excercice equipment for the price March 8, 2010 A. Sanchez (Portland, OR) I have to say that I am skeptic when it comes to exercise equipment. This product has surpassed my expectations. I bought it on sale for $30 at Big 5 Sporting Goods as it was cheaper than Amazon. Putting it together took less than 6 minutes. I used a monkey wrench instead of the wrench that came in the box. It fitted perfectly on my walk in closet door. I put in some extra packing foam on the edges of the bar to prevent any door markings. I like the variety of exercises that can be done on this pull up bar. I'm 203 pounds and the bar feels sturdy enough for me. My goal is to gain more strength and loose weight. My goal is to be at 180 pounds. Of course I'm also doing 30 minutes of cardio each day on my elliptical machine. I'm also following the recommended diet that came in the Iron Gym instructions. Good luck to everybody that is looking to get in shape and loose weight! :)
Exactly what you need for P90X. Stop looking and order it. March 8, 2010 Danarone (Cincinnati, OH) Has all the grip positions you need. Fits over the doorframe and is easily removed after you're done working out. Very sturdy and easy to assemble. If you are doing P90X, this is the bar you need.
Bear in mind that this is not an alternative to a real chin-up bar. It will wiggle a bit if you swing your body so you must be careful. If you're doing switch grip pullups you can't swing and jerk too much. But that is true with any of these doorframe chin-up bars.
